    Thumbs Up Changing a mk3 1.4 from a Single Point Injection to a Multi-Point

Showed all my mates my car the other day. You might remember me saying on another post that my 1.4 was a bit tired and gutless at the moment. Well my mates said it's because its a single point injection and I should change it to a multi point one. Also to replace the distributor with something I cant remember the name of lmao.

Just wondering has anybody else done this and how much did it cost.

Best thing is to buy a scrap astra or corsa with the multi point injection on and swop everything over inc wiring and ecu

(Spi = single point injection MPi = multi point injection)

there will be a few differences between your SPi engine and the MPi engine.

    1) your SPi engine will probably be running on a distributor and the MPi engine will be on a coilpack

    2) the MPi engine has a different fuel pump to the SPi, you will have to change the fuel pump

    3) you will require the MPi engine mounts on the driverside.

    4) which MPi engine are you going to use, the more common ones are x14xe (corsa) & x14xel(astra) there is also another 1.4 MPi which is an 8 valve engine found in early corsa B SRi, stay clear

if you can afford the insurance, you may aswell drop in the corsa B, sport engine 1.6 16v x16xe

the x14xe and x16xe engines can also be found in the tigra, dont use the astra engines x14xel and x16xel, they have less torque

if you go for an x--xe engine make sure you get engine loom, ECU, transponder ring and transponder chip for key and a MPi fuel pump
