    Screwed the Pooch.

So I was doing my LED conversion today and finally worked my way to the Speedo/Rev gauges. I was oh so careful pulling it all apart, started soldering it, then my dog decided to tackle my chair for no reason.

I got flying, the circuit board goes flying, solder goes flying, dog wags it's tail and watches the mayhem.

So guess what doesn't work now? My odometer LCD, the crash tore about 1/5th of the ribbon off the board on one side. I tried taping it back down, but it didn't work.

Anyone has any idea of what I should do next? Is it just time to order a new speedo/rev gauges or is there an easier fix I don't know about?

You need to go and buy a whole new unit. There is no way of repairing the ribbon cable. I fit LED conversions for people and the one thing I dread doing is moving that ribbon cable as if it tears, it's very very expensive and inconvenient.

I'm sorry to have to break this news to you but that's the naked truth

I have repaired ribbon cable loads of times.

Just scratch back some of the insulation and use some thin wire and a low power soldering iron to re make the circuit.
The truth is always the truth even if you haven't realised it yet...

Have you seen the ribbon in the mk5 clocks?

it detaches from the circuit board and there is literally nothing to solder to, at all.

Sure there is - it's always fixable

A fine pointed, low powered soldering iron like Lee says and some tiny SWL wire will see it right.
