    Question Another gear knob thread

I purchased a tastey leather Richbrook gear knob a while ago, but it has stumped me on how you fit, ive checked the how to guide here but I have the alluminium/silver gear knob not the rubber one.....

(sorry its my mobile just now so not great quality)

What i want to achieve is to be able to replace the original part if needs be so a hacksaw is really out of the question. if anybody has any ideas they are welcome because i personally hate that gear knob so much, wish I had one of the rubber standard ones, that silver one looks like a christmas decoration to me.....

Also want to know this, I heard that you can twist and pull it off, or heat it up with a heat gun/hairdryer. Twist and pull doesn't work. Not been able to try the heat gun/hairdryer. If anyone manages to do this, please post.

    Cheers

I would try having a look under the black top part with gear numbers on as there may be a retaining screw or something under there, Failing that, then gently heat it up with a hairdryer whilst pulling & twisting, as it can only be glued on!
    Hope this helps!

DONT TWIST, please don't say you've already tried!!!! They pull straight up, they have bonding at the bottom so yes maybe a hairdyrer will soften it but pull straight up

take lever out, fit in vice upside down and tap off with blunt screwdriver and hammer. Or pull hard and risk getting a knob in your face lol
