    Question Who's got a Garrett??

As above who's got a Garrett and tubular manifold as I'm considering one to get away from the crappy KKK offerings I don't want to be pondering round with only 250bhp under my foot and at the same time don't want to buy a new VXR turbo unit every 2 months!!

Just wanted to know what you had done to the internals, I only wanna run 300 - 320bhp tops but want it to be bombproof - already know I need a better rad for cooling and rest of my set up is in my garage...

I take it you want 400bhp then lol, I've heard of LEH's running completely standard with these and getting a safe 320bhp..

I'm just wondering if to go down this route as I can do a couple of bits to the engine but can't afford to go full engine re-build just yet..

Surely 300bhp off one of these it going to be safer than 300bhp at 20psi off a VXR unit??

If you run a Garrent turbo you can run lower boost than with the vxr turbo.
so with the garret you can run 320bhp with the same or lower boost than what the vxr turbo could run running 300bhp.

On Zlet.co.uk there is someone who put a garret on his vxr with a custom intercooler.
he has had it remapped by regal running boost 0.8 bar boost with 320bhp.
SMIC, miltek catback, precat, Thorney remap 242.7 bhp 281lb/ft torque

That's him, I was talking with Karen earlier about it and she mentioned him...Just wondered as the LET isn't apparently as good for piston strength as the LEH, even though the crank is better will it be reliable and strong enough - has been okay so far on 20psi??

Was going to say you can run lower boost due the the actual mass of air moved so will be easier on the engine too won't it
Plus when I'm ready to go for 400 or so I can get a full rebuild, M32 and LSD and just up it...

Got a garrett t3/4 on mine with a custom tubular manifold, just waiting for my mate to make up the down pipe. Ive used an external waste gate on my setup tho.

I was running a garrett t28rs and tubular manifold, complete with large intercooler, vxr afm and injectors.n Regal inlet cam and lexmaul exhaust system. All with standard internals was pushing out 320 bhp with no problems at all. My engine is the lel engine. All work done by Regal

Cool so in theory a better rad and the inlet cam along with cam kit / water pump and we're away for the optimum with what I have!!

So what do you have now then LEEDY is it the GT30 something or other??

    I thought Regal used the same ones now i.e the GT28RS - isn't it a GT30 in a GT28 housing??

Think I might get a VXR one it for now and limit boost to say 15psi just so it's relaible then sort all this out next year along with re-build etc - it's gonna kill me to only have 250 bhp though lol

........................................ Plus the wife's doing her nut in as the last turbo, phase 3.5 and Dbilas etc was supposed to make it reliable lol..

Over in Europe there are quite a few standard internal zlets running over 330 bhp without issues, a lot comes down to the mapping and how you make the power.

This is my manifold, cost less than £150 for me to make up.
