Sold the Es'Scrote yesterday & got the insurance changed over to the Astra this morning. Great i thought, can take it out for a proper run
Anywho, am i right in thinking the car with a spanner through it is the E.M.L? If so, that came on. No idea what it's meaning. Didn't notice any difference in the drive or any of that. Everything SEEMED a-ok, other than this light was on.
It's a 6 mile drive into town & the traffic was busier than usual, but moving. It came on after about 7 minutes approx.
I don't know if this is common in Astra's (or this Astra - a 51 plate 1.8 SRI) but it seems to take forever for the temp guage to start moving. I was virtually in town before it moved. Warm air was blowing quite early on though no problem.
Before the journey, the trip meter was about 2 miles & this is the photo i took when i noticed it....
I then parked up in town & by this point the temp guage had woken up. The light was still on....
Went about my business in town & then an hour & half later, set off for home.
Journey back was fine - no light came on. The temp guage only really hit the 80 mark though towards home.
Only other thing i noticed which didn't seem right is that when i got home, i noticed that the rear drivers tyre is really quite soft, so i'll have to check the pressure on that later to see if its my eyes or not.
On the topic of that.... what's the pressure to be putting in the fronts & rears on this car, as i checked the book & it's all in engine code (with Z's and Y's and what not. Tyres are 16").
But what's the crack with this light? Why did it come on into town but not on the way back? How do i find out what the problem is?
Never owned an Astra/Vauxhall before, so i'm clueless
Thanks for any help
