It looks like a Calibra/Cavalier engine to me! C25XE, certainly not a X25XE (GSi engine)

The seller has said on his advert that he is adamant it is a GSi engine, but it clearly isn't!

just to clarify what everone else is saying.

the one on the left is a redtop v6 (C25XE) (Cav/Cally)

the other is a Veccy V6 X25XE (at least an X series so could even be X30XE i think lol)

You're correct in the fact that his looks like the C25XE (Cavalier/Calibra V6) engine but if you read his ad you'll see that he specifically mentions the fitment of the earlier inlet system onto the X25XE engine. "The engine came from a facelifted Vectra Gsi which came from the factory with 3 litre inlet and exhaust cams. As part of the conversion a Calibra inlet manifold and ECU needed to be fitted,"

Hope that clears any confusion, Jx

yes but that wouldnt alter the posistion of the oil cap etc would it, if you study the pics even though it says cav inlet manifold fitted there is still alot of other differences, below is his reply when i said it doesnt look like a veccy engine

Excuse me mate as its my car i know what engine is in it and for your information if youd have read the listing properly youd have seen that a cav/cal inlet manifold was used along with the calibra cam cover all this was necessary cos without mods to mounts the bonnet wouldnt shut. Apart from all that i knew the vectra it came from. This is a genuine X25XE with a proven 192 bhp dyno graph from courtenay sport who carried out conversion. Do you think im stupid enough to advertise it as a X25XE if it was a C25XE.

also the cam cover woudnt fit onto the later veccy engine so i thinks hes telling porkies

Without wishing to argue over this, I cannot understand why you disbelieve this seller, to fit the C25XE inlet system you have to use the C25XE cam covers hence the change of position of the oil filler cap, the only other visible difference in the photos is the plastic trunking for the alternator cooling fan which has also been transferred across from the C25XE engine.
