    sorry about the title but ive lost a piece of socket set in my engine!!!!!!!!!!

    whilst replacing my top hat, its dropped down between the tophat and the back of the rocker cover!!

    it hasnt gone all the way through but whats down there??!! will it just be resting on a non moving component? or will it get chewed up by something?!

    aarrrgggg easy stuff always goes wrong with me ffs!! im sooo ****t off gggrrr

    not sure where you mean as i know sweet FA about engines but get down halford and you can buy a extendable magnet on a stick thing...if that makes sense and ull be ok getting it out with this

    Providing it does move into the cambelt area you have little to worry about. But use a torch to find shiny things and double check it hasn't dropped on the floor and rolled away or is resting on top of the wishbone always a favourite for my sockets to take a break on.

    aye, but id need to drive my car there!!

    its not been my day at all. in my haste to find a torch, id found it (the torch) but needed batteries. so i went upstairs and in my room i accidently knocked over a signed, framed football top.........................yup, smashed it! ggrrr

    i think this link should help interms of trying to show where its gone. its behind the fuel rail but infront of the tophat. havent a clue whats down there, other than my lonely socket set!!

    I've got no idea about the internals of an engine, well only a very vague idea and way.

    I know how you feel though, the amount of times I lose stuff onto my sump gaurd then takes all bloody day to find it again

    well, not ratling, no ticking, nada.

    so its either bounced its way out onto the gravel (its a small socket piece) or its resting on a ledge, waiting for the 1st 60mph corner!!
