HID effect xenon bulbs do they work?

I have seen some HID effect xenon bulbs 8000k at motorworld for £35 the guys reckon they look really good and very simular to HID's but without the hastle and espense of getting them and fitting them has anyone else had a normal xenon bulb that had the hid effect and worked?

Also has anyone tried the philips buls the ones that are like £40 are they good?

There is no hassle in fitting an HID kit to be honest. And for £35 you can buy an HID kit.

the lookalikes are crap tbh. jus have a blue tint to them instead of yellow. For £35 quid u can easily pick up a real HID kit and they are easy to install. Never listen to the chumps at motorworld

I just wanted to point out that no bulb that gives off 8000k light is road legal. Also I would say that cheap HID kits tend to be just that, Cheap and nasty. If you are just after bright lights Philips and Osram both do some very bright bulbs that are road legal and will upstage may cheap HID kits.

Not that i would like to see.

Been using the "cheap" kits for years, had 3 sets over two cars (one car had them in hi and low) and they are still going strong

I actually think the xenon effect ones such as halfords ultra blue (the illegal ones) are ok.

Obviously not compared to HIDs but against the standard bulbs they're aiiite!

    I'll post up pics.

I have the halfords ultra blue, super brillance ones in mine for the moment and they work wonders imo ?!

I had 2 old sets from my vectra days and went in and swapped them over, they'd been in the shed for 4 years and they still exchanged them, dont you love sunday staff!!
