    Central Locking?

    Hi AOC's

Newbie here. I have just aquired a 1999 0n a Tplate Astra 1.6 Auto, an Envoy. With a single manual key. I was just wondering how I would find out if the car has central locking, there is a key hole on the passenger door, (3 door should have said).

if central locking is standard can I just go to a main dealer for a new fob?
    Thanks guys!

    Regards
    Paul

If it has central locking, put the key in the drivers door lock and turn towards the front of the car, all the doors, boot and fuel flap should unlock together, now turn the key in the lock towards the rear of the car, if they all lock together too then you have central locking.

Then all you would do is go to vauxhall and buy a new key and have them programme it to your car, likely to cost about 100quid, so maybe get a fob from ebay, just buy the new horse-shoe bit with the blade on it from vauxhall and have them programme it, should cost about 50quid.

I think all mk4s have central locking, not 100% sure though, I know later Envoys have it, not sure about earlier ones though.

    Hi

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately, no joy. Turning the key just unlocks/locks one door at a time. I must admit I am a bit surprised, must be a very basic model. Still I am pleased with the car.

could possibly just be that the central locking control unit is away, can be a common problem on astras.

do you have a key with buttons on it or just a plain 1, pic of the keys you have would help, also 1 or 2 keys, both the same or different?

With a key barrel on both doors i'd say it didn't have central locking from the factory. Don't think i've seen a MK4 with one on both doors before
