    hardwiring a sat nav help

i'm putting a sat nav in my astra twintop. want to wire it to the switched live (so it comes on with the ignition), it any other car i'd wire it to the back of the stereo, but is this the easier way in the astra? are the cig lighters switched or constantly on?

how do i take the trim off to get to the wiring?

how do i take the stereo out? the sat nav is going on the vents in the middle, can i run the wire through the vent to behind the stereo?

Did you do a search for any of this information? I know a lot of these questions have been answered before.

Give more time, too. Someone will eventually answer.

The stereo has no ignition live at it

Remove the accessory/ ciggy socket and find a Black wire on it or taped up a few inches down on the same wiring and use that for the ignition feed. Brown there will be earth

    Ok here goes.

    Remove the the radio.
    remove the climate control unit.
accessory/ ciggy socket will then lift out.

the stereo MUST have an ignition live surely, what about when you fit an aftermarket stereo? got to have an ignition feed for that

Yes as far as I remember it will just lift out, but there is wires attached to it of course.
