    Painting my console

As above, I want to spray parts of my centre console from the ashtray to under the handbrake, & what i want to know is after i have keyed the plastic would a few coats of Plastic primer be o.k before spraying the colour coat or do i need to use high build primer first before the plastic primer & then the colour coat??
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks.

I would suggest degreasing the plastic, using a solvent based degreaser, then use high build primer after smoothing down the surface, that way the silicone in the plastic won't react with the primer!

Use some black aerosol/powder as a guide coat and flat the primer, then you can apply some base coat and it will look superb

So i should key the parts, then obviously de-grease with say 'white spirit' then use a high build primer before applying the colour coat?
Does that mean i don't need to use a plastic primer or do i still apply that after the high build primer?
    Cheers.

You will need a plastic primer before the high build!

    Sorry that was my mistake!

I sanded mine flat first otherwise the finish will be far from smooth. I also had no bad reaction to my painting, which was filler primer (4 coats) and top coat (4 coats).
Tell me what you've done, not what you're going to!

Did you flat down the primer after? Or just spray over it?

    I'm just confused now!?
So is this the right way to do it? Correct me if i'm wrong......
    1. De-grease with White spirit,
    2. Sand the part smooth with w&d (600/240 wet)
    3. De-grease again,
    5. Prime with High Build primer,
    6. Flat the primer with w&d (800 wet)
    7. Apply the colour coat,
    8. apply the clear lacquer,
    9. Polish up with Tcut.

when i painted the dash in my corsa i rubbed the parts, de greased them, plastic primer (2 or 3 coats) then painted them (3-5 coats) then clear coated it and it looked poo! got all new gear (well not new but from a scrap yard) and de greased it, plastic primer, paint and clear coat. it looked a lot beter, so my advise is dont sand.
