I thought named drivers had the same cover as the policy holder? 3rd party cover on someone elses car is only if you have fully comp insurance for your own car and it lets you drive other peoples cars on 3rd party?

    I thought the same NRY.

When i insured my car with direct line, im sure they told me that named drivers were fully comp, because i was a named driver untill i swapped the policy around ??

Just ask the insure mate as all will differ. I am on the wifes and she is on mine and are both fully comp throughout.

You will always have the same level of cover as the policy holder when being a named driver.

I think people are confusing being a named driver with being an 'un-named driver', where you use someone elses car on your own insurance. In that instance the cover would be third party only.

As Sten say's If the policy holder is fully comp then any named drivers get that same level of cover. If you are driving using the other car inclusion on your insurance then it is third party only.
