    Things arent looking good

We after this thread the other day

    http://www.astraownersclub.com/vb/sh...d.php?t=162522

The insurance company are provisionally telling me on first inspection it looks like a total loss.

Any ideas what i'm likely to be offered.

    2002 52 Plate.
    1.8 Bertone.

With the current car market being so low i'm not expecting much, but still have quite a lot to pay off !

And I go away in 2 days for a week in the sun

You don't have to accept that it is total loss, you can say you want to fix the car and they just sort out the third party side of things. Insurance will make you a silly offer to start with, but you are allowed to negotiate. The other thing to do is to take the option that they find you a replacment that way they have to pay for a replacment what ever it costs? Hope you are feeling better? At least you have a holiday to look forward to, may even cheer you up? Jx

what ever they offer for your car value mate refuse to accept it and get as many ads as you can (expensive ones) showing similar cars to yours, insurance valued my cav turbo as 1200 3 years ago. i got them to re-value it at 4000 after trawling the net for expensive cavs and they didnt write it off then.

Sorry to hear about your accident, hope you're ok, I had a smash in my old dti astra mk4 and the damage was similar to yours and the insurance wrote it off. The most I got for it was 3800 but that was 3 years ago now, I was gutted cos I paid 5k less than a year earlier.

Dont write it off, like danny said should be an easy reapir. Pre-accident the car was stunning, it can look like that again. My son wrote his astra off, losing a foot in length, but now it is back on the road an looks better than it ever did. (Maxx89) Tell the insurance people you are going on holiday and dont want to make any decisions until you come back, that way you can have a good time and think again when you come home, that way some of the upset from the whole thing will have faded. Jx
