Question Advice needed - Free webspace

Hi Guys, bit of advice needed.

I want to host a small (html wrtitten) website on a free hosting site.

My problem is, i want people who are not very computer literate to use the published site, so I dont want pop ups, they will get confused and click on them causing untold damage. I dont mind banner ads at the bottom but not pop ups.

as I say - I want to be able to type, or copy and paste html, not use set templates.

am i asking too much ?

Do you know a good one ?

    Many thanks for your help
    Ian

    more info...

I dont seem to be able to check out these sites before i register, i've signed up for about 5 so far - all sh*te.

god knows how much spam i'll be getting after this. + its very time consuming.

google sites. name i want gone. no html.
freezoka. shed loads of intrusive pop ups. even software download prompts.
    350. slow site with no html
    cant remember the others

i found a site which lists loads of free hosting sites, but as i say i have tried so many. i need recomendations.

i'd like a site with a name as short as possible, and ideally starting with www.
    unlike for example ... http://sites.google.com
this just causes confusion to the users.

    thanks again

Who is your internet with? Most ISPS will provide some sort of hosting with your internet. Worth checking that out if its just html sites.

Most free hosting is pretty crap from experience TBH.

That said 250free.com is pretty good. It adds banners but no pop-ups. Its also very cheap if you want to upgrade, about $4 a month, then you get rid of banners, can use a proper URL etc etc.

Well, this depends. Would you be purchasing a domain name to use with the hosting? Do you already have a domain name?

PM me exactly what you're wanting to do and I'll sort you out

Or, you could buy a domain from a company that gives you free hosting with every domain - something like http://nameroute.co.uk

    ok cheers.

I don't really need a domain name and I'd like to do this for free or as cheap as poss. as its really not that exciting.

    i'd be happy with www.host.website.com or www.host.com/website

just checking out blueyonder at the moment see how easy it is.

and watching big brother ha ha
