    Afm

This has probably been covered many times before, so i do apologise!
Just wondering if a faulty afm on a turbo will cuase the car to run badly?

    for example

    1.Management light to come on
    2.Poor MPG
    3.Drop in power

And is a common fault with the z20let engines

    thanks

    will

Yes it's a common fault, even though in 4yrs of Z20LET ownership, 3 1/2 with a BMC CDA installed I've never had a AFM go wrong.

Yes those seem like AFM symptoms too.

I'm off to go touch some wood now after typing that.

Traction light will normally come on and stay on and yeah the car will run like crap with less power, if you unplug the AFM it should be better or the same that's a good way to diagnose it, mine used to die when first turned over unless you revved it too...

william ive recently purchased a new AFM sensor because i thought my running problems might be down to that.....
but it seems like the AFM ive got on is fine after all so my probs lie elsewhere.....
i brought the sensor without the housing as i didnt want to waste too much money if that wasnt the problem and just used the original housing.....cost of unit with new housing is £80-100!
the sensor cost me £40 delivered so id let go for £35 inc post if you or anyones interested...

Was this a genuine AFM or a pattern part?

Well am over the moon today!!

Vauxhall change the Afm and the lamda sensor today under the Network Q warranty and the car now pulls like a train...totally amaze on the power different! After weeks of the management light being on and the vauxhall dealer near me couldnt resolve the problem. I took the car back to the vauxhall dealer i purchase from. They have done a fabulous job and even change the break pads while the car there.

The car Afm must have been faulty when i brought the car in June, because after a few weeks the light kept constantly coming on! i did take the car to Rolling road and it only made 174 bhp.. but now the car seems completely different, maybe its just me but seems very responsive and alot quicker

I would really recommend Pentagon vauxhall in Derby for there service!!

it tells the ecu how much air is gettin into the car etc and then the ecu works out ur fule mixture etc... when the AFM is playing up everything else starts to go wonky..

same wi turbo on mine... i was getting 13mpg and after the turbo was replaced i was getting 32mpg...

i had never had a failure on the afm in the 2 years of having the car.... then 3 went in as many weeks!
