    Very Low idle?

    Evening all

    Since replacing my catalytic converter last week, I've noticed that my idle has dropped quite considerably, now sits at about 600 or 2mm above the 500 mark, this was taken when the engine was warm

    Is this normal? the engine isn't stuttering idles lovely, however the computer is coming up with an EGR valve code 0400, cleaned it copious amounts of times and still its there, even after dcing the battery for several hours.

    First of all replace the EGR valve reset the ECU and see what happens. Have you checked all the wiring? The egr recirculates the exhaust gases back into the engine to be reburnt again. So it sounds like it could be stuck open. Change it over and see what happens.

    It maybe that the CAT isn't as effective as the previous Vauxhall one causing the car to open the EGR valve to bring the emmissions back into line. But until you replace the EGR valve we won't know 100%.

    Cheers for the replies chaps

    The emissions from a test a few days ago are as follows...

    Fast Idle
    CO = 0%
    Hydrocarbons PPM = 3

    Idle
    CO= 0%
    Hydrocarbons PPM = 0

    So the cats working great, should hope so after paying an arm and a leg for it lol

    Next time i'm at the scrappers, I'll see if I can half inch an EGR valve
