    Unhappy Air Con Failed

My air con has finally stopped working on my Mk4 GSi.

I took it to an excellent mechanic in Germany when i was over there, and asked him to check it out. He came back saying the gas level is fine, but the compressor clutch is not being engaged.

After some poking about, he unplugged and replugged the plug on top of the compressor, at which point the AC started working.

However, a day later, i have the same issue, and it's never worked since.

I've checked fuses, is there a relay to control the AC clutch?

Yes there is a relay. if u look under the bonnet on the right side you would find a box with 2-3 colored relays. One of them is for the AC. But my feeling is that its not the relay issue, but the Compressor Clutch itself. If i were you i would get that clutch replaced. its easier and cheaper to replace the clutch rather that replacing the whole compressor + clutch assembly which i unfortunately had to when my AC failed couple of months ago.

The AC relay is built into the coolant control module

As above though I feel this will probably be a faulty clutch on the compressor
