    whinning(whistle) noise on Z20LET

    On my way home on Friday, I got a whining(whistle) noise, it starts to make the noise just as the turbo comes in or 3000 revs. just had a new vxr turbo fitted only 4 weeks ago its only done 1000 miles, had to top the oil up as well over the weekend. what could this be?

    Mines whistling too mate, apparantley its on its way out.

    turbo bearings who fitted it was it primed properly or the only other thing is a hose with a hole in but very doubt it

    mine did that, it only lasted 50 odd miles once the whining noise started..
    Astra 2005 Sri 170, Vxr turbo, modded air box, baileys dumpvalve. re-map very soon

    it was fitted by a reputable garage that has done it many times before, we have look for a hole in hose but cant find any.

    looks like my old turbo may go back on for now, would this be a straight swap?

    yep, just change all the pipes and bits over

    my vxr turbo lasted just over 100 miles, loada pee

    Prome it prime it and prime it again, i used over a litre priming mine the second time

    100mile, new turbo gone..50 miles...and more and more such stories.
    there should be done something terrible wrong...but what?
    every new car should be driven very carefully at beginning...and so for several k miles...aim sure, that many, who blown their new vrx units...pushed pedeal to the floor right after swap.

    It doesn't matter how competent the garage who fitted it was, or if it was primed or if you take it easy for a couple of hundered miles to 'run it in', at the end of the day if you have a poorly built unit, its going to die no matter what you do .

    doesnt put ones mind at rest really does it!
    for me theres no reason why a turbo would go after 100miles......must be faulty units.....
