How to make a good job of chaning the MFD

I'm thinking about changing the MFD on my mk4 astra G SXi

My dad did it to his SRi a few years ago but it wasn't a very good job, he changed the LED's and some letters where brighter than others

How do you make a good job of it, is it easy?
I've read the how to tuorial on this site but can;t seem to understand it all taht well

Any help would be appreciated such as what do i need?
how do i remove the piece?

Loads of previous posts on this one, you need a new diffuser in the MFD and the LEDs, PM OddJob and he will sort these for you for a few quid. I have wondered whether just leaving the original bulbs in and changing the diffuser for a blue one would work instead though, it's the LEDs that cause the hotspots as much as anything else.

    To follow on from NRY,

Use 6 of Oddjobs Flat Headed LEDS's that he can provide for a few quid, there's 2 in there anyway but i got 4 extra inserted, the flat headed LED's will stop the hotspotting which is when some letters numbers brighter than other others.

you need to change the diffuser (behind the MFD screen) from the urrent yellow one to a clear one, or you'll get a lime green colour (see my pic below, that's a white QUAD Xenon White led with a yellow diffuser), unless you put red led's in, which is the only colour that's fine with the yellow diffuser.

Why do only the MFD? Why not change the whole lot of the LED's bulbs in your dash...I have a few pics of my efforts' (MFD, heater controls, insturment dials, steering wheel radio controls, electric window switches and the headlight switches) results - It's worth it especially during night time driving.
