Angry How the hell do you get the roll pin out???

Hi. After nearly 3 hours or now i have only managed to take the gearlinkage rubber arms off and remove the part they are connected to off the shaft from the gearbox. The roll pin has snapped inside the shaft and i really can't get it out. I've been trying with numerous punches and eventually went and got a piece of steel bar the same size to hammer at it but it still won't budge. I am replacing the lot with the qucikshift piece as a few people have suggested on here.

Those of you who have had to do this before or know how please help. Its looking more and more impossible the more i try. Was thinking of resorting to drilling it out? If it will. Any other suggestions would be a big help.

    Thanks in advance

I just WD40'ed it for a week before starting it.

Jack the car up and use some steady axle stands. Keep spraying WD40 into where the pin is, find the longest push that fits nicely into the linkage hole and give it some good strong blows with a lump hammer.

Failing that measure up a piece of wood (say 2" thick) and cut it down so its a nice tight fit from the floor to the behind the linkage. This will stop gearbox absorbing the blow.

Another thing to do is take the weight of the gearbox with either a jack or a crane/hoist and undo the gearbox mount. Then you have slightly more room to work and see what your doing better.

Don't drill it out as this will widen the hole where the roll pin goes and cause slack in the linkage.

    Hope this helps

Thanks for that help. Have finally managed it after a million a one blows with a hammer. Hard work tho.

Thought that was gonna be the hard part, but have started tryin to put the new pin in and its just as difficult lol. I might try the piece of wood from the floor idea, sounds like it could help.

    Thanks again
