    oil problem

had an oil issue before where every week or so i would have to put abit of oil in the car (sri turbo 2002 hatchback).. as the on board computer told me to keep doin it and the dipstick showed it was low.. i then had a new VXR turbo fitted with oi land filter change.. and it was fine for about 3 months.. now all of a sudden its all come back.. the CHEK OIL sign keeps coming up every week or so.. there are no leaks wot so ever.. it cant be the turbo as thats brand new now.. so ne ideas where this oil is going? sumtimes theres blue smoke out me exhaust which indicates its being burnt off.. is this normal? are turbos thuirsty cars ith oil?? or have i got a problem

i have exactly the same problem. uses loads of oil, and blue smoke comes out of exhaust, and the check oil appears regularly.

Just spoken to vxhall mechanic- by the sounds of it he reckons the seal on the turbo or may well be the rings, so the engine would need stripping down!!!!

Not normal at all! Mine doesn't use any oil.

As Rich says it will be either the turbo or the piston rings.

Take off the bottom intercooler pipe and see if theres much oil. If there is, then it's probably the turbo otherwise it's probably the piston rings.
