    central locking confusion

    hi,

i have purchased a portman car alarm, but having problems wiring it to the central locking on my astra f 1995 1.4.

Am i right in thinking that the wires from the alarm go to the central locking unit behind drivers kick panel, if so what colour wires do i cut into on the central locking unit? I have tried everything, but now the central locking wont work unless the ignition is switched on! strange!

    please help, many thanks

    Welcome mate

You alarm should have 4 to 6 different central locking configurations, one of them will be negative trigger or pulse which is the one you need to use

The lock wire on the car is Brwon/Red and the unlock wire on the car is Brown/White. These car be picked up in either kickpanel at the locking unit on the drivers side or the wiring where it goes to leave the car on the passenger side

As for the locking not working unless the ignition is on, check the fuses

To post pictures the best bet is to get a photobucket account where you can upload the pictures too then link them to this site with the image tags

If your still struggling my email address is in my profile so you can email them accross.

Is the central locking working as it should on the car yet before you even think about linking the alarm to it?

lol...it was working before i tried to link the alarm to the central locking control unit( black box) behind drivers kick panel, but this blew 20amp fuse, since then cl will only work with ignition on.

I don't remember the ignition ever being linked to the central locking on the MK3's. Best fix that first before you try to link the alarm to it
