    Unhappy working cameras on M42?

    do the average speed cameras on the M42 work even if there is no speed lit up overhead? i think I mite of been going abit fast through the first few but i wasnt concentrating. (I no thats bad in its self anyway)

    I could be wrong here but ive heard that they only work if there is a speed limit showing. My mate went down there well over 70mph and never got a ticket ( so he tells me anyway)

    They will only work if the speed limit is showing on them, however, if there is something wrong with a sign like there is 1 blub that has blown, then the camera won't work even if there is a speed limit showing.

    i feel such a pleb for doing it! first time iv done any speeding and it had to be there of all places! i just wasnt with it at all!

    Yes the variable speed limit cameras do, I drive it often and see the cameras flashing on the opposite carriageway when no speed limit is shown.

    AFAIK they are only permitted to use 1 lanes camera at a time unless they have updated the type approval.

    i drive the M42 at least twice a day and agree that on the opposite carriage way they flash even when no limit showing. however i usually stick to 75 (80 when im late which is quite often) and ive never had anything come through.
