    Boost Pressure Z20LET VX220

    Hi guys,

Your forum has been recommended by the fellas over at vx220.org.uk.

Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

    I have a VX220 Turbo (Z20LET).

In December 2003 I had a stage 2 remap, pre cat removal and miltek exhaust fitted by AMD. There have been no other engine mods.

I've noticed over the last 6 months that the car 'feels' down on power and there seems to be a little more turbo lag than there used to. The car generally feels sluggish, particularly below 4k RPM.

I finally got round to buying a boost gauge to help diagnose the problem.....

At idle cold, vacuum indicates 22 inHg (-10.8PSI)
At idle warm, the vacuum indicates 26 inHg. (-12.8PSI)
30 inHg (off scale) during overrun.(-14.7PSI)

At full throttle, overboost is 9.5 PSI (0.655 bar) and sustained boost pressure is 9 PSI (0.62 bar) pretty much throughout the rpm range. Doesn't seem high for a stage 2 level of tune?? The problem being, I have no idea what the boost pressure has been for the last 5 years so I cannot compare any changes.

All the vacuum hoses and pipes appear to be secure. The vacuum readings at idle appear quite high, would this indicate a partial blockage?

Anyone know what boost pressure the original AMD map was designed to achieve? Any other things I should check, ie. Diaphragm? Adjusting the actuator? etc etc

    Cheers

    Jay

standard map the LET unit should boost to about 10psi dropping to about 8-9 sustained. Your boost levels seem like a standard map. Phase 2 maps normally run between about 1.2 - 1 bar.
