Unhappy Z20LET on its last legs?!?

My emissions warning light came on a couple of weeks ago, i took it into my local vauxhall dealer who said it was my lamba sensor. I had that replaced and a week later the light cam on again!!So the garage have had my car for a week and have replaced my ecu and said have the car for a week to see if that resolves the issue. But on taking collection of the car it now sounds like its pinking but it only does it when underload at around 4000 - 6000rpm. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas as to whats happening to my beloved astra coupe turbo.

I have been reading that it could be my Air Mass Meter but they said it could be my other lamda sensor.Do you know which is the most expensive?

i'd take it to another dealer/garage.
the main dealers are meant to be fully trained in car maintainance and should not be changing ecu's and saying try that.
nor should they say i might be the other lambda sensor.
they are supposed to be trained and have the right equipment to know if it is 1 thing or another.
i'd go else where if it was me.

oh nut they do, took them 6wks to diagnose my fault, 3 camshafts later, then saying needed a new ecu, then blaming other things, only for tho discover a ecu pin was out of alignment.
dealers just as bad as most garages. hope you didnt pay for a new ecu

it makes you mad. the main dealers are more john wayne than some smaller independant garages but peoples general opinion is the other way round.
i hope you got all that done under warrenty andy.

Oh yes indeedy, many of the VX 'technicians' are as good as your local under the arches garages at guessing what the problems may be!

No I havent paid for the ECU as the garage have kept my old one and I wont be paying for another lamda sensor until they can definately say that its going to resolve the issue. I may even ask them to call Vauxhall and get one of their techs to come out because im not going to keep spending money on items that dont need replacing
