Cracked alloy that has been re-welded - really important

If an alloy has been welded with a crack and the result is the tyre lets out air is it worth getting it rewelded or is the alloy scrap

the crack is about 1" on the inside of the alloy.

almost every other website i have been on says that wheels should be written off in this case

the RAC repair guy who looked at it said the same

I'm pretty upset, its my birthday today and I have the worry of not being able to drive the car until the wheel is sorted plus seeing if I will even be re-imbursed on the wheel set if it comes to that by the person who I bought it of here.

I have only had it on a few weeks and the tyre has been loosing air like mad. I didn't realise it was low on air until a garage told me. They filled it yesterday, compeltely flat today and couldn't drive.

They did a pressure test and it was gushing air where the weld is. Put the spare tyre on.

If I stick the 16"s on the car is going to be very low and undrivable where I am due to speed bumps.

I cannot risk an unsafe car. I do alot of motorway driving with myself and the gf in the car. I don't want anything happening to her so I would rather not drive it.

I have no dosh until payday either. What a shitter.

Two of my alloys were cracked on my previous astra. When having the wheels refurbed they were welded. £50 for the welding of the two wheels and £50 for each wheels refurb.

Here you go, shot of the whole wheel and a close up of the crack.

I spoke to BBS in germany and they said that welding aluminium wheels in dangerous as aluminium is quite brittle.

Crack is quite big and there is not telling the extent of the crack under the weld itself.

So it is fair to say the wheel is scrap.

BBS Germany also have no spare BBS RKs and never will in their factory, they checked for me.

I've called the person who sold it to me leaving him voicemail and dropped him a PM on here. Just hope this can get resolved now.
