    Problem with Central Locking

    Hi Guys,

I have just started replacing the front door speakers. I took the door card of the passenger side but ran out of day light the other night so I had to call it a day.

I locked the car with the key fob, and all doors locked.

When I went to my car the next morning and pressed the key fob the indicators flashed like normal but none of the door unlocked, and I had to use the key to open the drivers door.

The only thing I noticed was that there was some condensation in the car, probably because some as the insulation from the passenger’s side door was removed.

When I press the key fob the lights do flash, and the boot lock works and I can open the boot. Also when I get out the car and press the key fob again the boot locks but not the doors, and the second press of the key fob has no effect at all so no deadlock anymore.

The same problem occurs if using the key in the lock but obviously the door does lock.

I have checked the fuse for the central locking and it seems fine.

I have an Astra 1.6 5dr, I also have a total closure unit fitted.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Only comment I have vaguely related was when doing my door speakers a few weeks back we missed off the cable pull from the interior handle to the lock mechanism so the door would lock onthe key then instantly unlock.

Sounds like you might have a cable not connected perhaps? Other than that I'm unsure.

    Yes the car starts.

Actually the key fob works, when pressing the key fob the lights flash and the boot and petrol cap locks and unlocks, but all 4 doors do not and deadlock does not work at all.

It worked when I left the car for the night but in the morning it would not unlock. I wondered if rain had damaged something electrical as the door weather strip was removed so water could get in the door.

There is a chance something has got wet but it's unlikely as the doors let water in all the time

Try unplugging each of the front doors in turn and see if it starts working at all

When you say unplug do you mean the big connector near the hinge of the door? The only other wires in the door where for the electric windows.

Just removed the two plugs in the doors and the central locking still does not work. The only thing that locks and unlocks is the boot.

I just can't work out what could be causing this, the only thing i can think of is the fact that I have a total closure box thingy that is wired into the central locking system, which has been working fine.
