    airbag/pretensioner light on

I've just hoovered the car under the seats and had the handbrake/gear shift gaiter out, stuck the hose nozzle in there to, now the airbag light is on. Have I knocked the wire off somewhere.

Also my diagnostics plug under the handbrake is on right hand side, other side is empty, so doesn't match the "how to" photo on paper clip test. Has it just been mounted on the wrong side so is upside down.

    cheers all

have a look under the seat, these should be a black box, more than likely you have knocked the wire in there, give it a wiggle and that should sort it

Cheers Windrew, I checked the cable but don't know which seat is at fault. I'd like to take the black box out and check the connections when I can see it properly, but guess it might go off if I try this.

Since done a search and this seems to be yet another of those common faults. Nice to know that a cheap connector might be the difference between airbags deploying or not in a crash.

    Who designs these cars?!

should be alright undoing them if its need as its only for the seatbelt pre tensioner, just try pushing the plug back in on both seats, worst case unhook the battery for 30mins before playing around too much

I've taken the black box out but the green plug doesn't just pull out on mine, how does the box come apart from it's cradle bit so I can split it and get to the wires inside.

    cheers for the help
