Ok, it isn't my crank sensor...

MK4 Astra 2002 1.6 16v, fired up and started but within a split second cut out and would not start. AA said no power to fuel pump and towed me to garage.

Garage said initially crank shaft position sensor but no code errors showing up and when they tried a new sensor it made no difference.

They now have a new coil pack coming to 'try' (if it isn't this they'll send it back), any other suggestions from you knowledgeable folks out there? The fault is something that is not monitored given no engine management codes etc, no thoughts it could be the fuel pump at this stage from the garage as the no power issue would suggest the fuel pump is not getting power so hence it isn't coming on.

Relays were all tested by AA who said they were working fine, same for fuses - would they test fine but still not work?

Not the coil pack either, fuel pump relay has been tested and is fine, garage are getting power to the fuel pump but no life from it, so seeming like new fuel pump job. Weird how the AA man was getting no power to the fuel pump but hey...

Ironic if it is the fuel pump - had a very quiet grindy noise from it for a few weeks (hence my earlier question on here somewhere about it running all the time) which stopped about 6-7 days ago. Given in the warm weather my car runs on petrol for a second or two before switching to LPG I am thinking that I'd get a good few starts from the car before the petrol in the fuel pipes ran out - vague guess that the fuel pump went 6-7 days ago and I've finally gotten to the end of the petrol in the pipes?

Fuel pump arriving on Tuesday so fingers crossed!
