Hi guys, spread the word please. I own a 2007 Astra 1.9 CDTi Sport 150, which had only covered 7,000 miles. It has been off the road for 3 & 1/2 months, the last of which back at the Luton factory. The car suffered from excessive start up smoke and from picking up from the overrun. The main dealer worked on the car off and on for 2 months but was unable to remedy the fault, despite fitting new injectors and carrying out every conceivable diagnostic test. Finally the car was transported back to the Luton factory, where the engine was dismantled. This is where it really gets interesting. It was discovered that the engine had undersize pistons for the bores which resulted in a new line picked engine bieng fitted, complete with all ancillaries. So don't be fogged off by any dealers stories like it's only start up smoke, or it's the particulant filter, it's likely that your car too has the wrong pistons fitted! Happy to provide more detail on request, but I could write chapters on my unfortunate experience with this car since I took delivery. Chris Reed, Vauxhalls Field Engineer is hopeless and demonstrates a very poor after sales service and non carring attitude, he refuses to speak to you on the phone and in my opinion needs to be retrained in Customer Care, so you will need to bang the table very hard if your car suffers from the same fault! I have an engineers report on their findings if anyone wants a copy.
