    Sports button

    HI can anyone tell me what the sports button actually does in my mk5 astra, does it give u like 400bhp more

    dont know my sports buttons the pedal on the right the harder i press the faster i go lol, just kidding it just changes the engine management settings to give a little more bhp (unless ur talkin about an auto which just changes the gear changes times/although not completely sure the do that on the mk5)

    probs so they can keep it in the lower tax band, plus the old story in the pub which starts with ' so i pressed the sports button.................'

    It doesn't change the bhp at all! Just the steering and throttle response as already said.

    Vauxhall prob added the sports button so that the fuel economy is better in normal mode and if most people are like me it makes the steering too light in sports mode for my liking and the throttle very jumpy at low speeds in towns etc.

    totally true i think i stall it everyday in sports mode lol

    SPORT mode
    SPORT mode is used to change damping, steering, throttle application and
    the shift point for automatic transmission and Easytronic while driving.
    Damping and steering become more direct and provide better contact
    with the road surface.
    The engine reacts more quickly to accelerator movements.
    With Easytronic and automatic transmission, shifting times are reduced
    and gearshifting occurs at a higher engine speed (unless cruise control is on).
    Ahh sport Button ! ... I think the increase in acceleration is 33% more
