Remote locking key is "eating" batteries

My remote locking key is eating batteries after only a few uses.

Have tried several different kinds of batteries, known branded ones and cheap pound shop ones but the key fob seems to use them up really fast.

    Any ideas??

    Very strange!!!

I would chech the battery contact points on the mini circuit board its self.. usually solder breaks away...and wont work when pressed etc..

had this a few times till i re-soldered it.Find it unlikely to eat batteries.

Have you tried feeding it something different

I guess your changing the batteries because it's stopped working? Have you just tried the resync method?

Yeah I've tried re-syncing the key. It syncs up fine and then after a few locks/unlocks the key dies again. I'll check and see if the solder is broken tonight.

Took my key apart tonight, and the battery bit is lose from the wee circuit board, will need to solder the wee bit back together.

Never soldered anything before but I see Maplins do a wee cheap cheerful one, is there a specific type of solder I should buy for this repair job??

is it definitely lose? ie hanging off?

usually u find the legs snap but dont fully come free so u can usually just wedge a piece of paper or card between top of battery and case and that in effect pushes the battery pad down onto the PCB (printed circuit board)

i would at least try this - resync the remote - give it a few days and monitor the situation
