Dunno how to change thread, but gonna upgrade fronts and convert drums to disc

I've got a 1.6 8v 4stud (which I wanna keep), and gonna start getting parts together for front upgrade and rear conversion. So scrappy hunting begins soon!!!
For the front (correct me if wrong):
    1. 5 stud calipers (lucas are best???)
    2. 5 stud calipers carrier
    3. larger discs (but whats the biggest 4 stud size?)
    4. hubs
    5. new pads (are 5 stud bigger than 4 stud?)
As for the rear i'll need
    1. discs
    2. hubs
    3. calipers
    4. caliper carriers
    5. handbrake cable
    6. hoses?
    7. pads
Thats all I can think of atm. But what would be the biggest size I can go for on both front and rear (as i'm hoping to keep them the same size).
If possible would 280mm go on front and rear or would 308mm be feasible?

Oh and I don't fancy the idea of drilling new holes btw.

    cheers

Would you not need the beam? or was it 1 beam for every car?

i dont see why it shouldnt fit. just completely remove the beam, brake lines, hand brake. Ya may need the bias valve as well. Surely there will be someone with more techy knowledge then me.

The front carriers are part of the hub on the 4 studs, and the current carrier will come up and over the disc to hold the pads!

I am not sure if there is a way around this!
