    declaring wheels on a policy

    hi there ive got a set of 17" wheels on my car and will be declaring them, will my insurers bump up the price? also what if they dont insure cars with modifications as ive noticed a few dont?

    Depends on the insurers! Just phone 'em up and ask A few companies only bump up the premium if its performance enhancing but will only restore the car back to standard in event of crash!

    as said, depends on insurer, may cost nothing, may cost £200 or something. The thing is, they may turn around and not allow any mods, even wheels, so just say you're enquiring and they could potentially cancel your policy afaik.

    im with kwikfit insurance at the mo, so shall i justr phone up and say that im interested in buying some?

    yeah I would, just say, im consideirng buying some alloys, and wanted to check how much theyd be extra on insurance first. If they say we dont allow it, then atleast you know.

    I used to work them, not brilliant for mods but a set of wheels shouldn't be a problem. If you give them a call they should be able to quote you any increase.
