I'm sure this has been asked before .....

...... but please bear with me!

I don't have access to a hose, so it's just a bucket of water for me. Bearing in mind, I'm not a great one for spending hours on a clean, what would you recommed to give nice results.

Are cloths as important as chemicals? If so, what do you recommend.

    Thanks,

I don't have access to the car from the house - no road frontage.

So the first tip is not to tip the water over the car or get a new bucket?

Maguires wash mitt, microfibre cloth (get quite a big one) and at least three buckets! As you say you dont like washing the car make sure you wash it every week without fail then it will be easier which means its quicker! If you make sure you polish the car after you wash it (auto glym super resin polish) this will also help! Jx

OK the products will make life easier and the cloths will do the job with the products making life easier. So good cloths and good products will make life easier but not necessarily save you time.

If you use a TFR (Traffic Film Remover) then it makes getting bugs and flies off the bumper alot easier but it takes more time to do this step than to just crack on.

But doing things quickly won't give you the best results. Your far better off doing what I do as I'm always short of time. Do 2 really good muck outs (full on clay, polish, wax) spending alot of time on it twice a year. Use collonite 476 to give you protection that will last up to 6 months. Then wash it in between with a PH neutral shampoo which will not remove the wax but will clean the car.

PS. I don't have a hose either. Just 2 bucket and 1 watering can.

3 buckets? Also heard of a dirt guard is this recommended (though I would have thought that the swirling of the water would keep the dirt particles suspended in the water)?

    Any shampoos/detergents to avoid?

Thanks Jam - this clay stuff sounds 'weird' - I'll have to give it a go just to say I have! Agree about the 'do it right' twice a year.

    Cheers,

Avoid fairy liquid or any other washing up liquid as it will dry out and perish rubber seals and it will also strip any wax you have on the car.

I don't use grit guards and don't see how they can work on anything smaller than a pebble.
