    help!!

right, ive just attempted to change the pads on my car, stripped it all down tried to grip the piston back in, no luck.... solid!! eventually managed to propper screw up by pulling the piston out!!! but learned something by doin it, the piston is actually on a thread that needs to be wound back down NOT squeezed back like i've always done on other cars. my problem is now i cant get the piston back on the thread, it seems to grip and go down a bit but then just keeps turning without going down???? its a lucas caliper single pot(standard 03 plate coupe turbo rear brake caliper) any help would be greatly appreciated as my car is now sat outside with no brakes as the caliper is in the boot in bits!!
