Today saw a first for me. Over on Detailingworld I've been talking to Tony of Autoshine. He used to be the in-house trainer for Swissvax, leaving to continue his own detailing business which has found him detailing luxury yachts as far as the Indian Ocean!!
Anyway, he's just in the process of building a new premises to work out of. We've been talking about organising a day of informal talks and training before he starts in earnest with his own detainling jobs and also personal 1 on 1 tuition using machine polishers etc.
He'd told me he was designing his own wheel wash and would send a sample to try in the meantime I received a sample of his own pH neutral carwash that he is in the process of designing.
Now I know I might sound silly but I got a little giddy, I mean it's the first sample I've ever received and I felt a bit special Hopefully he'll go in to full production soon, after feedback.
I wasn't planning on washing the car as it wasn't that dirty, plus the GF and kids are at mine for the weekend. It got to mid-morning and it looked like a lazy day for them, so I got busy. Not a full detail but not just a service wash. I just wanted to test the new soap!
So this arrived, hmmm, can't remember ordering anything off ebay
So that was it, out with the gear!
First a quick pic to show it wasn't really that dirty but needed a wash!
Couldn't decide which products to attack with at first then decided to use up the last bit I have of Autobrite 3D polish wax blue snowfoam. Which is a bit long winded and doesn't polish or wax!
This is to show how much I added
Gave it the old Foam>Rinse>Foam>Rinse. As you can see, it's foam and it's blue and works very well.
I then did the arches. Soaking in Megs APC and scrubbing with my 99p Vileda pot washing brush!! It's great this as it's a ideal shape to get in between the wheels and arches and scrub without having to take the wheels off. Later on I also dressed the arches with Megs All Seasons Dressing
Then before the main wash I tackled the dirty wheels and tyres.
With Megs APC at 4:1 and EZ Detail brush and Megs Wash Mitt
My assistant was kindly agitating my Victoria Wax Soap in the Pinnacle bucket with Gamma Lid and Grit Guard
Which brought the wheels and tyres up nice
Now onto the bit which was the reason I started this 'little' wash.
The Autowash hasn't really got much smell, a little like washing up liquid, and is quite thick. I poured 4 capfuls into the CG buckets. Yes I did add the gritguard after!
Using a lambswool mitt from my collection. I then washed the car using the 2BM. I find this great to keep the mitts in. Not very trendy I know but it's waterproof, sectioned off and is free
At this time my assistant had took the oppertunity to wash his own car using just the 1 bucket method and MF Mitt
Before rinsing out with great determination
The AutoWash itself felt very good to use. Feels nice and slick as you wipe although I think that I didn't have enough added though as the foam seemed week. Maybe I will try another wash with the remaining bit I have left. I'm certainly no 'expert' that people look to for advice but I've used quite a few different washes now and it's certainly one to look for in the future!!
After washing I rinsed down with a hose, not a pressure washer. This way you get more volume of water.
I then spritzed over with Megs Last Touch at 50:50
And dried first with my Aquatouch drying towel (Green) and then went round again with my CG Miracle Dryer (Yellow)
Dressed the arches with the Megs ASD and then trimmed the tyres with Megs Endurance High Gloss usng a foam applicator
Then I went round wiping down with Zaino Z6 using Eurow Shagpile Double Density MF
And then to top it off, went round with Zaino Z8 using a different Eurow shaggy thingy
Not many pics of the results as by this time, 2 1/2 hours later. My neighbours were all out talking about me again and I felt a little under the spotlight.
Couple of reflection shots. I was really pleased of that one with me in as, for a red car, it's a great reflection shot!!
Any comments, pee takes and questions welcome as always!!
