    Exterior pack alloys on mk4/G

Hi, This is my first post.
I'm on here for my son. I drive a Supra Twin Turbo

Anyway he has just bought a mk4 convertible with XP 18" wheels fitted, the tyres are 225/40/18.
A couple of days ago he had 2 mates in the back and at some point (prob going over a speed bump) the rear tyres have caught the arch lip and bent it down (about half way down the front of the arch). I have managed to bend them back without any damage.

Does anyone else have this set up and experience any probs??

Would changing to 215/40/18 make a difference??

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Russ

short n sweet answer.... stick to 215/35/18 on the mk4

225/40/18 is whats needed on the mk5 thus why they were fitted on the mk5 rims in question

So if he went for a set of 17" aftermarket wheels what size tyres would he need on them??
    They normally come with 205/40/17
