    Ascona B

    Hey folks,

just wanted to share my "other" project with you.

I am restoring a 1980 Ascona to its former glory. It's had a hard life but I hope to have it back on the road by next year. The only thing that really has changed is the motor swap. The 1.3l carbed engine got taken out, and a 2.0l CIHi is going in. Anyway, a picture paints a thousand words.

    Cool.
My Dad had one of these when I was a kid. A 2.0Sr 4 door in blue IIRC.
That grille in the top pic, its not an OE part is it?

No, it's from Stinmetz, very rare grill indeed.

I hope to have the car spray ready by the end of this year. Sky blue.

We used to have a white one from when my dad was posted over in germany.

It was great (apart from the red vinyl interior that used to burn our legs in the summer!!)

That was a 2.0S and we had many a happy day with my dad 'getting the back end out' in the snow!!

Good on you for restoring to standard, but I'd imagine it was hard to resist going for the rally look LOL.
