    Cambelt how 2 tell if worn!

    Alrite just bought a astra coupe turbo on a 04 plate with 37000 on the clock the previous owner said the belt and pullys and pump has been changed.. is there a way of looking at the belt or wear marks to tell..

    The belt is worn some of the ridges on the belt are uneven, best thing to do is look for any cracks forming between the teeth on the belt and get it changed if you can, I did mine not long ago and it was about £70 for the full kit, so its not to much, what would you rather pay £70 or 100's for a top end rebuild.

    id say it looks a bit worn and done a few miles on it as you can see the teath from the outside where it has been run on the tensioners tbh if in doubt change i have always done mine regardless wot the previous and book said

    they need changinf about every 40,000 miles I think, change water pump aswell

    Change it and the pump. I did when I first got my coupe, it was only on 20k-ish Better safe than sorry!
