    1.8 Engine BHP??

Ok, i was told that next to all the 1.8 Engines are the same....
but why when i look on Parkers does it tell me that some have 113bhp and some have 123bhp??

Is it something like the exhaust system that is limiting these versions??

Also, mine is the Sport with 113bhp, but i have had a new exhaust system fitted, If i got this Remapped, what BHP would i be looking at and how much does a remap usualy cost??

    Thanks alot all !

As far as im aware the 113 is the earlier x18xe1(sxi/sport) >2001 and the 123 is the later z18xe using fly by wire throttle (sri) i wouldnt think its the exhaust as the z18 has a cat on the manifold more likely to be cams and different map on the ecu??( anyone else know exactly??) You should see a nice/noticeable gain without having a remap but as to how much it will cost ummmm???? Sorry cant help with that. Hope this sheds a bit of light!!

This is correct. The earlier sport model had less bhp.

As for getting a remap- expensive and not massive gains on your N/A engine.

Speak to courtenay about ways to improve performance.

It's not totally correct, trim level has nothing to do with it. The later SXi's, CD's etc have the same 123bhp engine as the SRi.

It's worth noting that the on road performance difference between the two engines is non existant.

The changover happened with model year 2001. X18XE1 became Z18XE and gained 12hp, the X16SZR became the Z16SE and gained 10hp. The X20XEV was canned, replaced by the Z22SE.

    Hi,
i use to have a 1.8sri mk4 and took it down to my mates garage and had it tested for bhp on the ramp, standard it came back as 126bhp.I then had a full cat back magnex exhaust put on, k&n airfilter, had it chipped, lowered and lighter alloys ect plus loads more and i was really surprized as when i took my car back to see how much bhp i had added, the reading came back as 148bhp so i was well chuffed.
There are loads of things you can do to make it gain bhp but some are defo costly! I think the early model had approx 113-115bhp.

    Hope this helps m8

doesn't the model give a few bhp difference? Because mines the 113bhp one with AC and I read the same car without AC had 115bhp?

Nah, it's 113 BHP or 115 PS - both are the same.
