The steering wheel cover is the front part of the airbag and you can't easily take them apart to swap them over.

you really need to swap the whole airbag unit over

As above, you cant swap the badges as there are one unit.

No thats not right. In England and Australia there was a series astra without airbags!
Is there a way that someone ask his vauxhall dealer for the part an the price??? I think it will be cheaper than in germany.

No MK4's in the UK was fitted without an airbag as standard, but you can get covers for non airbags from a dealer (no idea why tho).

Here's one I bought a few months back

As you can see there are no fittings for the airbag to attach to - there needs to be as the cover forms the front part of the bag assembly.

If you disassemble an airbag (I've done so, so I know this to be fact), you'll see why the cover is part and parcel of the airbag assembly, and cannot be safely swapped or easily over.

I think I paid about £14 (but that was with my friendly dealer discount)

    part no's
    OPEL - 90437333
    VAUXHALL - 90437334
    CHEVROLET - 9138414

But (and that's a big BUT), the badge is held to the cover by three very large plastic pins which are heat welded to the cover on the inside The badge is held to the airbag cover in the same way.

As I said earlier, you cannot safely disassemble the airbag assembly to reattach a badge in the same way. I've tried and got the cover off the pyro bit, and gave up when the bag itself started coming out of the join

Simply sticking the badge to the cover with glue will not provide a strong enough join, and will no doubt mean that it will come off towards your face at great velocity should the airbag ever go off. That's why it's fastened to the OE cover the way it is - safe strong and secure.

But it's your life, and ultimately your choice
