    Goodbye Dakota / Douglas DC3 / C-47 Skytrain

    http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/ne...cle3873647.ece

One of my favourite airplanes of all time, these things pretty much helped the allies win WWII and saved hundreds of thousands of lives throughout the war.

I was lucky enough to see it landing at George Best Belfast City Airport on my way home this evening. I saw a load of planespotters on the walkway that goes over the road I travel home on so I parked up and joined them, a few mins later the plane came in to land. Really brought out the goosebumps and a lump in the throat to see such an iconic plane flying.

Most of these wartime planes will be grounded soon, due to the damned European Union sticking their oar in where it's not needed with stupid regulations.

And yes, I'm gutted that my camera wasn't in the car. Always leave it at home on the days I miss something cool, then it sits in the back of the car for months doing nothing apart from getting rattled about.

They'll still be flying for a good few years in Africa and South America, and anywhere that doesn't have busy body rules and regs.

A beautiful aircraft, that had such a massive role in shaping world history. shame to see it not being allowed to doe what it's meant to do

A great shame its to be grounded because of mindless redtape and regulations .
