    Urgent help needed please :(

Hi there as i was i reversing into my drive earlier wen i got back from work i was lookin in my mirrors as you do and as i came to a stop and looked in front i saw a little bit of smoke coming from the bonnet and soon after smelt burning electrics :S i immediately turned the engine off and looked under the bonnet. after a few min i discovered what had blown- a fuse. however i looked in the manual and it said if one of these fuses goes it causes major failure to the electrical system! :S as i use the car everyday for work i need to know asap if it's still safe to use the tommorrow. i have taken a couple pics of the fuse and box. its the purple fuse and on it it said: 4604602-4635023 Little fuse 299 32v. The engine is a 2000 1.8

    Many thanks

Right without firing up the lap top i can't identify what circuit that fuse controls, it called a Maxi fuse and when one of these goes you've got a problem Autosparks will be able to identify it. You can get one from an Auto Factor like LSUK/Partco/ or Unipart but and it's a BIG BUT, the fuse is there to protect the circuit and the car from catching alight, so no you can't use the car until you find out exactly what it controls and you rectify the problem.
Don't be tempted to just fit a new fuse and hope that lt will be ok.
