    1.9 cdti 150 thrust bearings

Hi,just got in the car this morning, the car was in neutral, when i pressed the clutch (not in gear) it made a noticable rattle at the biteing point. My mechanic informs me its the thrust bearing and the clutch needs replacing! Only Autovaux and dealers have clutches at a whopping £310
The car is on a 55 plate (3 years in november) 67k so out of warranty

    2 questions:
Does anyone know if they have a dual mass flywheel?
Has anyone else had a similar problem? as i am quite dissapointed with such a new car developing clutch problems!

    thanks i will pm him.
I take your point, but i would have thought 67k for a diesel using todays technology, it should just be run-in!

its not the Thrust bearings My money would be on the fly wheel being on the way out
how long have you had the car
I can get a Clutch an cover plate an fly wheel if needed from a 1.9cdti 150bhp for you price wise your looking at around £450
thats with about 2 to 10 miles on them from vauxhall's cars that have been broken for parts

Ive only had the car about 10 days, but im positive it wasn't making the noise when i test drove it as i listen out for stuff like that.
My mechanic is going to strip it hopefully this week, so should know better then, and thanks Danny thats great! If i need anything off you, can you post it and accept paypal, or is it pick up and cash?

    Cheers

Welcome to the wonderful world of the DMF. If it was a Ford you'd nearly expect to replace the DMF every 30k.

You have only it had it 10 days? Did you buy it privately or from a garage. If it is from a garage then ask them to fix it (free) if they don't play then reject the car under the sale of goods act. If it is private then I am afraid that you will have to pay.

Got it from a local garage, when i rang them, they said more or less 'Do your best, its nothin to do with us, its your driving!'
I went to a local dealer this morning and they said it was the dual mass flywheel as Danny said. Over £1000 to fit a new one.
I bought the car without finance or credit card so im up sh*t creek coz i dont have enough money to get a solicitor. To be honest i hate the car now!
So if Danny can help i will get it repaired as cheaply as poss and sell it!

I didnt get it from a dealer, just a small local garage. I asked the dealer today would they contribute and they said no as it had 67k on the clock. The car is 3 years old in november with full Vx history.
