Red face 150 cdti dpf problem sorted.

My 06 Zafira went to safe mode today and had a fauly symbol on the dash. My Opel garage plugged in the Tech 2 and took me and my car for a short spin. Tech 2 said diferential pressure swith on the dpf was the problem. while parked in a safe place where the ground under the car wasn't flammable, Tech 2 put the car into a manual regeneration of the dpf. It brought the revs up to 3500 rpm and held it here for around 10 mins. During this time the tech 2 monitored the engine water temp, inlet temp to dpf, diferential pressure on the dpf and the % that the dpf was regenerated. After the exaust temp was at around 500-500 Deg C the regeneration % really got going and when the % was 100% the temp was well over 600 Deg C. The revs on the car started to come back down and all was well. The manual regeneration was complete. The tech 2 then updated the software in the car for the dpf regeneration for the future.
Car now drives fine again. Mechanic said there is now no need to remove the blocked dpf as this is the latest method of fixing the problem.

It was nice to be in the car when it was being done and I was glad I wasn't facing a bill for a big repair job.

Hope this is of some value to everyone.

Sounds like your VX dealer is uptodate with the latest processes for sorting this out. I hope yours remains free of problems..

Mine had a new DPF fitted a few weeks backs and I'm still have the damm spanner light come on from time to time. Eventually my VX dealer managed to get a code via TECH2 and today it's in the dealership getting its DPF sensor replaced....

Being in Ireland, it'd be an Opel dealer. They seem to have a clue.

I'm very lucky with my dealer. Zafira is only under warrenty here for 2 years from new, but they are very good to deal with and there was no charge for the work with the tech 2 on the dpf even with the car out of warrenty.
