    any ideas??

My 1.8 sxi, doesnt seem as quick as it used to be, seems hesitant when you put your foot down, and this is going through all the gears, as i remember it used to be rather nippy, what it feels like now is trying to drive with the brakes on!! also when you take your foot off the accelerator it does slow down real quick, any ideas would be grateful.

could be lots of things really but when was the last time the car serviced?

it could be something as simple as needing a new set of plugs.

You could try cleaning out your throttle body, but for a car to slow down quicker, sounds more like a sticky/siezed brake caliper or something to me.
Especially when you say it seems like it is driving with the brakes on.

When were the brakes last checked or pads replaced?

If you have the Bosch calipers, they are prone to siezures.

Yeah, when they checked the brakes, they would have seen the pads are ok, & the discs ok, & thought nothing more of it.

It probably wasn't playing up then either, so it wouldn't have been picked up.

Go out for a drive, then go round all 4 wheels & take a smell.

If you smell a burning smell on a wheel, you know it is binding & down to a siezed/stuck caliper.

It's probably one of the rear one's, but that's just a personal guess.
