    Engine swap

    Well had on going problems with my X18XE1 engine in the estate. Gone from poor running to erratic idle, and now to an idle where the engine want to escape from the car!
    Changed everything i been told to change yet im still left with the fault 'excess current on o2 sensor' so i think its the ecu that is to fault.

    Was going to get Norms z20let, but insurance let me down, as this would of solved all the problems. So since i can only stick to a 1.8, what would be involved in fitting an X18XE engine from a vectra?

    I believe, although could be wrong, that it the same as the let block so should just drop in.

    Am i wrong. And what other problems would i come up against?

    The X18XE is a big block engine and the X18XE1 is a small block engine, So i presume the mountings will be different.

    I would have thought that you would need the Block, Exhaust manifold, Ecu and looms and possibly the engine mounts.

    The X18XE looks similar to the Z20LET but the internals are very much different as are a few other things

    Would i still need my original ecu as well? or can i bin it?

    Have you tried changing the EGR valve on the engine?

    Astra is coming back..bigger badder and better
    ..or is it? Thinking of buying a coupe

    yes. and the air flow meter, and the o2 sensor and the throttle body. so only thing left to change is the ecu. unless im unfortunate enough to of got another throttle body with the same fault.
