    Clutch Slip Testing

I never had to test a clutch before, so I am hoping I did this correctly.

I just did the below clutch slip test.

    1) Drive off as normal until I reached 20-25mph (in second gear)

    2) Change to 5th gear and floored the gas

    3) The car picked up speed smoothly with no judder at all. The revs also gradually went up as the car picked up speed.

Is this a good enough sign that the clutch is in good health?

id think so, another one is to put the breaks on and try to drive away, it should stall, not sure if thats to good for the engine lol

I heard that you should try to pull away from standstill in 5th, & i think If your clutch is o.k the car will stall if its slipping the car will slowly pull away, Don't know how true this is just something i was once told!

depends on the car size and engine size.
an astra 8v will start to slip if you put it on full lock and cane the throttle before dumping the clutch...
a mustang could start in 3rd 4th 5th with the damn handbrake on, cant try the same stall tests on a big ass v10 as you can with a normal car, what are you trying to test?

quite a powerful engine in a light car then... any test with throttle thats on-boost will be abit silly, will just burn the clutch as the engine isn't likely to stall.
if you don't suspect the clutch is slipping how come you want to test it out?

In that case, I can safely say that the revs rise as the speed increases

@raven - i just wanted to make sure the clutch is fine before I book her in for some mods

    Cheers all.
