    dechrome stripping

was past my mates boddyshop today, finding out how much it was going to cost to sort out my freshly damaged wheels. spoke to him about removing the horrible chrome strip on the back.

he is not happy to do it incase the cost spirals out of control. would like to see how its been done on other cars. before he tries.

looked on the forum for last half hour couldnt see anything.

any info on how its done would be apprciated, pictures would be good too.

    thanks again chris

Then remove the chrome strip and smooth off the holes that are left behind

You can buy panels to do this from europe. TBH though if they cant smooth a boot i would find a new bodyshop

you can get the bodyshop to weld a panel to the back of the boot to smooth it off or you can buy a plastic cover to cover the boot to give it the smoothed off look -> LINKY

this may sound daft but how do you open the boot if it is smoothed out?

Remote solenoid Andy i imagine. However it would have to pop it sufficiently to get your hand underneath to open it

he is really good, he just doesnt want the price to spiral, watching out for my pennies.lol.

yeah prob a poper, and if i dont get the required lift then i will put a spring or something, but i tried just pushing the button then lifting it from the bottom, could just get the tips of my fingers underneeth, so if the worst comes to the worst we can still get it open once catch is releised.

cheers for the comments and the linky
